Our Story
Hand Carved in our
Small Family Woodshop
All the wood we use is either gathered in the woods, gifted to us by friends from their yards or travels, pruning’s from local organic orchards, pulled from slash piles awaiting burning, or the byproduct of the family’s tree trimming business. No trees are cut for the sole purpose of these carvings. We use a few simple tools, some electricity and treat them only with mineral oil, so their environmental impact is minimal.
The Makers
Minot - Master of the Lathe
“From a young age I’ve loved working with my hands and creating things. Colors, grains & textures of wood have always fascinated me”
Watershine - Reverence for Wood
“It is one of my pleasures to open people’s eyes to the wonder and simple beauty of wood. It’s structure, it’s grain and rich and subtle colors.”
Each Piece
With a knack for finding the most interesting grain patterns and the patience to sand and polish them to their full glory, the Yonder Hand Carved team of Watershine & Minot are masters of their folk art craft.
Each item from the workshop is inspired from the piece of wood in hand. Bowls, trees and boards are hand carved - often from a single piece of wood. Branches, wind falls and orchard trimmings shine are turned into items for life and home.
